I’ve been going through a personal revolution at a time when we seem to be approaching a collective revolution. This doesn’t mean a single major revolution where everyone acts at the same time, but there have clearly been changes in desires around the world, leading to upheavals, destruction, restructuring, and resistance. I keep this visual in my mind of molding a tortilla and tossing it back and forth between our hands. You can make the easy comparison to the left and right “side” politically molding each other into some unified value system, though that’s not guaranteed, just as anyone making a tortilla might drop it or break it apart.

Revolution, as a process of change, is about agency and sovereignty, something we’ve at least claimed to value in the US as we’ve poured tea over the sides of boats and wrestled with the freedom of entire people we’ve claimed to own.
